Ford joins OmniAir Consortium

Ford Motor Company, one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, and provider of advanced mobility solutions has joined OmniAir Consortium.

Based in Dearborn, Michigan, the company designs, manufactures, markets and services a full line of Ford cars, trucks, SUVs, electrified vehicles and Lincoln luxury vehicles, provides financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company, and is pursuing leadership positions in electrification, autonomous vehicles, and mobility solutions. Ford employs approximately 191,000 people worldwide.

Ford was the first automaker to announce a definitive timeline for the introduction of C-V2X communications in the United States. Ford plans to install this technology on its newly launched US vehicles beginning in 2022, and within a few years all of the over 2 million vehicles Ford manufactures each year in this country will have it.

OmniAir, together with our 80 member companies around the globe, is developing the world's first comprehensive testing and certification program for C-V2X (PC5 LTE-V2X) devices. This programme is expected to launch in Q3.
