Buick’s all-electric VELITE 6 breaks cover in China
At the 2019 Buick brand day event, SAIC GM Buick announced the official launch of the pure electric MAV Buick VELITE 6. The new car has been launched in three models, offering five body colour and two interior colour options at a subsidised price of CNY165,800 ($24,870).
Buick VELITE 6 is highly based on the the design concept of Buick VELITE new energy concept car. Through the analysis of contemporary user needs, architecture engineering research and keeping in mind future design trends, Buick aims to provide a practical and artistic offering for its customers.
MAV multi-function sports sedan body shape has the same comfortable driving experience as a traditional sedan, while providing more space and storage space. Compared with the MPV and the station wagon, the MAV's front suspension is more compact. This makes the overall shape more fluid and dynamic.
The Buick VELITE 6 is equipped with the new Buick eMotion electric drive technology, eConnect 2.0 interconnection technology and also a host of intelligent driving assistance technology.
The high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motor has a maximum power of 85kW and a maximum torque of 255N·m. It is matched with a newly developed high-precision single-stage gearbox for light and sensitive start-up and smooth linear speed increase. The self-adjusting independent suspension system provides a comfortable and detailed driving experience.
The Buick VELITE 6 uses an efficient integrated three-electric system and a precise energy management system. The power consumption per 100km is as low as 13.3kW·h, and the energy consumption is about 1/10 of that of a fuel vehicle. The city's comprehensive cruising range is 301km.
Through multi-stage vibration and noise reduction technology, Buick VELITE 6 overcomes common noise of the electric drive system. Combined with multi-module optimisation design strategy and quiet-tuning, Buick's patent mute technology optimises road noise and wind noise performance.
Based on SAIC General Motors' latest iterative upgrade of the “Second Engine” car-linking technology, Buick VELITE 6 is equipped with Buick eConnect 2.0 interconnect technology, including new card-based human-computer interface, Super ID personal account, OTA remote upgrade, virtual key , WeChat music and location delivery, cloud intelligent voice interaction function, fleet and other car-linked functions, to provide consumers with a rich “cloud” experience.
The Buick VELITE 6 is also equipped with an intelligent driver assistance system including FCA front collision warning, CMB collision mitigation, LDW lane departure warning, SBZA side blind zone warning, APA automatic parking, combined with a body structure that meets the five-star safety collision standard. The standard Bosch ESP 9.3 electronic stability control system, TPMS intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system, AUTO HOLD automatic parking system and 6 airbags, etc., allow users to enjoy peace of mind and electric life.
Buick VELITE 6 achieves the highest functional safety level of ASILD in the development standards of the driving critical subsystem and BMS battery management system, and is equipped with a number of electrical system faults and mitigation measures to effectively improve the vehicle.
Buick VELITE 6 will be produced at SAIC-GM's Wuhan base. This is a green, energy-saving factory integrating lean, agile, flexible and modular manufacturing. It has GM's world-class manufacturing quality level BIQ (Built in Quality) L4 certification.
