Pod Point wins Mitsubishi preferred supplier contract

Electric vehicle charging provider Pod Point has sparked a three-year preferred supplier deal with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, importer of the UK's bestselling plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Outlander PHEV.

Under the new partnership, Pod Point will install charging units for the car maker's consumer and fleet customers in the UK. With more than 35,000 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs on the UK's roads, and more than 100,000 sold in Europe, the Mitsubishi Outlander recorded the highest sales in Europe for any PHEV from 2015 to date. Added to its many achievements, it is also the world's best-selling plug-in hybrid SUV, with cumulative sales of more than 140,000 worldwide .

Pod Point has installed more than 50,000 chargepoints for its home, workplace and destinations customers since its inception in 2009 and its Open Charge app has been downloaded by more than 40,000 drivers. Its products range from homechargers to 150kW high power rapid chargers, while its team provides a range of services from initial consultation through to installation.

At the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, Mitsubishi Motors revealed its all electric e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT SUV, complete with high-capacity battery and designed to perform equally well both in the country and the city. It also debuted its 2019 Outlander PHEV at the show, which will be commercially available in Europe towards the end of this year. The 2019 Outlander features a complete overhaul of its powertrain and a 15 per cent increase in battery capacity.
