News

ubitricity, a charging infrastructure and service provider from Germany, announced the first roll-out of lamp post charge points in France.

Info
Located near Calais, in the town of Rely, 22 ubitricity chargers were installed in a hospital car park and on the public street.

The new ubitricity charge points are easily accessed with a standard charging cable and a smartphone. The set-up of the charge points was completed in less than three days, demonstrating the speed and scale at which ubitricity charge points can be deployed.

ubitricity specifically developed the SimpleSocket Étoile charge point for the French e-mobility market. This charge point, eligible to the ADVENIR programme, can be adapted to fit many lamp posts designs as well as other street furniture. With its two outlets, Type 2 and Type E (CEE 7/5, “Schuko”), it can charge EVs with a standard charging cable (type 2 mode 3) as well as electric 2- or 3-wheeled vehicles. To use a charge point, EV and LEV drivers just scan a QR code with their smartphone and let themselves be guided within 3 clicks to start a charging session using their regular EV charging cable.

The French e-mobility objectives are clear: the country now has over 30,000 charging points, 100,000 must be installed by the end of 2021, and 7 million by 2030. ubitricity lamp post charge points can be deployed wherever there is lighting: public and residential roads, local communities, condominiums, supermarkets and commercial areas, business parks, public or private car parks, carpooling areas. This robust and unobtrusive charge point design makes a dense charging network possible in a short amount of time and without adding extra street furniture.

ubitricity's charge points reduce the deployment efforts related to civil engineering works with an average installation time of 1 hour per charge point and use the energy networks that are already in place. This solution, therefore, reduces the cost of installing these charging stations, offering substantial savings compared to the installation of conventional charge points.

Lex Hartman, CEO of ubitricity, said: “We are proud to offer our openly accessible interoperable charge points in France now. The Étoile charge point is very easy to use - all the French EV drivers need is a standard charging cable and a smartphone and they are ready to plug in and recharge their EVs.”
