Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to deliver 420 e-Crafter vans to Chronopost
Over the next two years, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) will be supplying a total of 420 e-Crafter vans to Chronopost, a French city logistics company.
The Groupe La Poste subsidiary chose the e-Crafter after performing extensive tests.
Martin Piechowski, President of Chronopost, and Heinz-Jürgen Löw, member of the brand Board of Management for Sales and Marketing, signed the agreement in Hannover.
Löw underscored the significance of this order for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: “This is the largest single e-Crafter order by a fleet customer to date, and it is another important step towards sustainable transport solutions for urban centres. We want to thank Chronopost for the trust they are putting in our vehicles for deliveries to customers over the last mile.”
The e-Crafter was said to be the key to making the large-scale conversion to zero-emission transporters much more than just a utopian vision. Löw added that the e-Crafter would also have a chance to prove itself in the tough everyday world of city logistics.
Chronopost has been committed to clean urban logistics for many years. Since September 2019 Chronopost has been supplying goods to customers all over Paris with a fleet of 100% alternative vehicles. By June 2020 the service will be extended to more than 18 cities in France.
