Shell to double the number of quick-charging stations in Germany
Jan Toschka, Head of Shell’s Petrol Station Business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, announced that Shell will be doubling the number of quick-charging stations it installs in Germany, as compared to its earlier plans.
Most of these chargers will be located in the north of the country.
For drivers of fuel cell or battery-electric vehicles, Shell is building an infrastructure of hydrogen filling stations and charging stations. In addition to the 100 ultra-fast charging points already announced, the company will be building another 100 ultra-fast charging points at our petrol stations in a second wave. These charging stations will be powered by green electricity. In addition, the network of hydrogen filling stations is to be expanded from current count of 80 stations.
The Hamburg-based company ADLER Smart Solutions has been commissioned as a general contractor to design and install 40 of these ultra-fast charging stations. The 40 so-called DC high-power chargers are to be installed at a total of 20 Shell filling stations. For this purpose, 10 suitable locations in Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein and 10 locations in Berlin have been selected.
The 40 ultra-fast charging stations have an output of up to 175 kW and can supply a corresponding electric car with electricity for 100 km within 10 minutes. Installation of these charging stations will begin in spring 2020.
