Jedlix App to provide smart charging for Jaguar I-PACE

News

Jaguar will join forces with Smart Charging platform Jedlix, which creates flexibility when charging the battery of electric vehicles.

Info

The Smart Charging service optimises the I-PACE's charge sessions by charging on the best moment for the utility market. This will decrease the peaks in energy demand and will ‘balance' the energy grid. Owners of the Jaguar I-PACE will optimise the use of available renewable energy by their charging settings. In addition, the service will also reduce the total cost of ownership.

As a result of an increasing amount of electric vehicles in the Netherlands, there is a rise in the demand of sustainable energy and smart charging possibilities. Jaguar and Jedlix are responding to this by offering the smart charging technology. Via the Jedlix application - integrated with the I-PACE's Incontrol infotainment system - the owner of the Jaguar I-PACE will be able to comfortable set his departure time and his peak/off-peak tariffs. The Jedlix app automatically optimises the charging profile during peak/off-peak periods and for the utility companies using the car's internet connection. As a result, the I-PACE relieves the energy grid and mitigates CO2 emission.

Niels Burgman, General Manager Electric Vehicles Jaguar Land Rover Benelux, said: “In cooperation with Jedlix we offer the drivers of the electric Jaguar I-PACE in the Netherlands the possibility to help balancing the energy grid. I am very enthusiatic because thousands of I-PACE drivers will get access to this service on short term. We will work hard to quickly adapt improvements and experiences. This will have a great impact.”

Besides that electric driving reduces CO2-emession, Smart Charging with the Jedlix app will reduce the Jaguar I-PACE's Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Energy partners and grid operators - for example; Eneco, ENGIE, OM | Nieuwe Energie en Tennet - reward Jedlix for Smart Charging related electric vehicles. These revenues received are shared with the users of the app.

Serge Subiron, CEO of Jedlix, said: “Thanks to the sales success of the Jaguar I-PACE, Jaguar plays an important role in the transition to electric cars in the Netherlands. We are proud of our partnership with Jaguar and bring together the best smart charging experience to Jaguar I-PACE drivers and engage them in the energy transition.”
