Fully electric Vauxhall Vivaro-e van to launch next year

News

Vauxhall will launch the new Vivaro-e next year, the pure battery electric version of its best-selling medium van.

Following the addition of the all-electric Corsa-e and plug-in hybrid Grandland X Hybrid4 to its product range, the Vivaro-e marks the next chapter in Vauxhall's electrification strategy.

The British brand is committed to delivering eight electrified models by 2021 and electrifying its entire product portfolio by 2024, as part of the PACE! strategic plan.

The Vauxhall Vivaro-e is based on the group's highly variable EMP2 platform, which enables the use of conventional as well as electrified powertrains. With the Vivaro-e, customers will have a choice between two battery sizes, depending on their needs. The 50kWh battery provides a range of up to 125 miles, while the 75kWh offers at least 185 miles (according to WLTP).

The new electrified version of the successful Vivaro offers no compromises. Customers can still expect the same outstanding practicality and comfort synonymous with the diesel variants, with the latest generation of the Vivaro van proving popular since going on sale earlier this year.

“For nearly two decades, the Vivaro has proven itself as a popular choice for moving goods and passengers alike,” said Richard Hughes, Vauxhall's LCV Director. “Now, with emissions-free transport and deliveries becoming increasingly important in urban areas, the demand for purely electric light commercial vehicles is increasing accordingly. From small businesses and to large fleets, the all-new Vauxhall Vivaro-e is set to carry British business.”

Next year, the Mokka X successor will be added to Vauxhall's electric line-up. Electric variants of the Combo and Combo Life, along with an electric version of the Vivaro Life, will be added in 2021. Vauxhall's portfolio will also include an electrified version of the next-generation Astra.
