GS Yuasa begins operations at its Li-ion battery plant in Hungary

GS Yuasa Corporation announced that GS Yuasa Hungary Ltd. (established in October 2017 in Hungary) has launched its operations.

GS Yuasa Hungary has started to manufacture automotive 12V lithium-ion batteries and also started supplying them to European customers.

GS Yuasa Group's latest automated manufacturing technology is installed in the Hungary plant to fulfill the increasing market demand in Europe. GS Yuasa Hungary assembles automotive 12V lithium-ion batteries with lithium-ion cells produced in Japan. Maximum production capacity is expected to reach 500,000 units per year at the first phase.

The plant is located in Miskolc, Hungary, and spread over an area of 140,000 sq. metres. The annual manufacturing capacity at the facility is nearly 500,000 batteries. In addition, there are plans to significantly expand capacity in coming years. GS Yuasa is also planning to install lithium-ion cells manufacturing process in the Hungary plant in the future.

GS Yuasa will continue to develop extensive technologies to respond to the market change.
