Enel X joins EV Charging Network Hubject

Hubject, a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging interoperability and Plug&Charge technology capability, announced that Enel X has made a strategic investment into the company.

Enel X is a global eMobility leader and their participation as a new shareholder in Hubject will unite the worlds of energy and mobility. It will also sustainably increase the innovative strength of the future technology of eMobility. The common objective is the establishment of a global and open ecosystem for digital mobility services and the seamless charging of electric vehicles throughout the world.

“We are proud to have a global, leading energy company as a strong partner as we strive toward a common goal, facilitating easier and more convenient EV charging globally,” said Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject. “Together we are looking forward to increasing our scope and enhancing the features of our open B2B marketplace for the global energy and mobility market of the future.”

The international joint venture, Hubject, is the global market leader in the cross-network digital charging infrastructure market and combines comprehensive expertise with global experience and digital know-how. With more than 600 business partners and more than 200,000 charging points, Hubject operates the world's largest cross-provider charging network for electric vehicles.

“By joining Hubject, we are taking electric mobility to the next level. We are expanding Enel X's role of global eMobility Service Provider, by increasingly supplying charging services beyond our network. The overall aim is to offer electric vehicle drivers the possibility to fill up their batteries without having to worry about who their provider is, or about being abroad,” said Francesco Venturini, Global Head of Enel X. “The necessary precondition to the spread of electric mobility is simplifying the lives of those who want to join this revolution, and we are fully committed to the challenge.”

The global partnership with Enel X will further promote the innovation and simplification of the eMobility infrastructure worldwide. Enel X, with around 60,000 charging points worldwide in 2019, is leading the transformation of the energy market to support the transition to a zero-emission system. The goal is the sustainable distribution of fast, intelligent solutions for all market participants throughout the digital mobility value chain. With Enel X's participation, Hubject will intensify its efforts to increase the digital B2B marketplace and global charging network, intercharge.
