FAW-Volkswagen to manufacture the all electric Audi e-tron in China
Audi’s first all-electric offering, the e-tron, is soon slated to go into production at FAW-Volkswagen’s Changchun plant in China.
These vehicles will be sold exclusively in the Chinese market. The joint venture is expected to build 45,000 to 50,000 e-trons annually.
Another offering from Audi's stable, the yet to launch e-tron Sportback is also expected to hit the production lines at the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture plant in Foshan in the south-eastern province of Guangdong. The production version of the e-tron Sportback will be launching at the LA Auto Show later this year.
The German automaker's all electric offering for the Chinese market, the Q2 L e-tron, will go on sale before the end of this year. This vehicle will also be produced by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture.
The Q2 L e-tron is powered by a single electric motor producing a power of 134 hp and torque of 290 Nm. The 38 kWh battery enables a range of 265 km for the compact SUV.
