News

Mercedes-Benz announced the delivery of two two fully-electric emission-free buses to Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe (ZVB) and Bus Ostschweiz (BOS).

The eCitaro buses ordered by ZVB and BOS are characterised by their extensive equipment. Passengers benefit from an air conditioning system, 15 double USB ports for their own end devices and three monitors for providing information during the journey. Passengers with reduced mobility will notice generously dimensioned areas for wheelchairs and pushchairs, as well as tactile handrails with ribbed handle profiles on the doors or the contrast-rich interior design. Bus drivers will appreciate the exterior camera for keeping an eye on cyclists and pedestrians. Interior surveillance cameras and a door-closing warning system with red LED light strip and video surveillance provide for added security.

The eCitaro is fitted with ten battery modules providing a total capacity of 243 kWh which guarantee a range of around 150 kilometres even in difficult conditions. The batteries of the eCitaro buses destined for ZVB and BOS are charged by cable at the depot.

The buses are equipped with a unique thermal management system with a heat pump for heating the passenger compartment, as well as temperature control for the battery and connected components. Many of these have been made available for the first time in line with the eCitaro. Its exclusive design is derived from that of the popular Mercedes‑Benz Citaro and makes for a very distinct appearance - the eCitaro is a very special type of Citaro.

Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe AG (ZVB) is the leading mobility provider in the Zug region. On workdays, more than 65,000 people travel on ZVB bus routes - be that to work, to the shops or for their leisure activities. Around 400 employees ensure smooth running of the routes. As the provider of the Zugerbergbahn funicular railway and the two ferry companies on Lake Aegeri and Lake Zug, ZVB also operates daily on water and in the mountains.

The buses at BUS Ostschweiz AG travel under three different brand names: “WilMobil” for the Wil region and the town of the same name, as well as “RTB Rheintal Bus” and “BUS Sarganserland Werdenberg” for the areas between Lake Constance and Lake Walen. More than 220 employees and around 90 buses transport more than 8.5 million passengers over 39 bus routes.
