Moixa and EO partner to develop solar home charging solution

News

Moixa, the leading cleantech company, and EO Charging, the electric vehicle (EV) charger manufacturer, have partnered to create a dedicated smart charging and home solar battery solution for consumers.

This revolutionary collaboration will help drivers cut the cost of EV ownership, reduce their carbon footprint, and give them greater control of their energy bills.

The solar, storage and smart charging package will limit the impact of EV charging on energy bills by utilising Moixa's GridShare software. Using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, GridShare will manage the Moixa Smart Home Batteries and EO Genius EV chargers in customers' homes.

Chris Wright, Chief Technology Officer at Moixa, said: “Avoiding charging at expensive peak times can provide significant cost and carbon savings for EV drivers. However, many of us simply don't have the time to manage this. That's why we developed this AI-driven GridShare software that can control the EV Charger, in this case EO Genius, alongside solar panels and battery to let EV owners achieve maximum benefits with minimal effort.”

GridShare's smart capabilities will use household data to learn energy consumption patterns and assess local weather activity to develop tailored charging plans for each home battery and EV from a customer's solar panels or the grid, utilising time of use tariffs. This will increase consumer control over their energy bills and carbon footprint.

Richard Earl, Chief Technology Officer at EO Charging, said: “We believe electric vehicles make most sense when powered by clean, renewable energy. This partnership with Moixa is the next step of our journey in creating smart chargers and intelligent software for the forward-thinking home owner. We're excited to be working hand in hand with a fellow British cleantech leader to propel the UK forward as a global force in the EV and smart battery storage industry.”

Moixa and EO Charging have a shared vision - to deliver a smarter, cleaner and more reliable energy system. By combining their intelligence, Moixa and EO aimed to create a more sustainable solution for EV charging. The partnership is an important step in enabling the smart grid of the future.

35 million EVs are expected to be on British roads by 2050 - a figure that could see an additional 6.5GW of demand at peak time. To avoid future network constraits, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) forced all new government-funded home chargers to be ‘smart-ready' from June 2019. By using AI to predict network peaks and the higher energy costs assosicated with increased demand,

GridShare goes well beyond these standards by enabling smart charging today. GridShare instructs EO's hardware to shift charging to times of lower demand, thus minimising energy bills and reducing strain on the grid.

Moixa's ambiton is to manage millions of the world's batteries to reduce costs for the network and customers, cut carbon and improve network reliability.
