BP Chargemaster reveals new rapid 150 kW chargers

News

Info

Britain based EV charging provider, BP Chargemaster, recently unveiled
its new 150 kW rapid chargers at the Fully Charged Show in Silverstone.

The company plans to install around 50-100 of these ultra-fast charging points by the end of the year, while gradually increasing the count to 400 by 2021.

The charger will be capable of delivering a range of 100 miles within a charging time of 10 minutes. Being manufactured in the UK, it will support both CSS and Chademo type of connectors.

The roll out of the new chargers will begin in July at BP's petrol station forecourts. These stations will be a part of the company's Polar network, which already comprises of 6,500 charging points across the country.

With the launch of these rapid chargers, BP Chargemaster is looking to future-proof itself. Currently very few EVs support 150kW charging, Audi e-tron being one of them. But given the slew of launches of high-end all electric vehicles supporting this kind of charging scheduled to be launched later this year, adoption of these rapid chargers will surely grow.

Apart from BP Chargemaster, other EV charging providers like Pod Point, Fastend and IONITY have also started deploying 150kW charging at their locations.
