Production of the EV is being undertaken at the e.GO plant in Rothe Erde, Aachen, since March 2019.

e.GO has already received 3300 pre-orders. It plans to supply all pre-orders by the beginning of next year. The company wants to switch to two-shift operation as soon as possible in order to be able to produce at least 15,000 e.GO Life. More than 150 new jobs have already been created for series production of the e.GO Life in plants 1 and 2 in the TRIWO Technopark Aachen Rothe Erde. At e.GO Mobile AG, more than 450 employees already work.

e.GO, headquartered at the RWTH Aachen Campus, a research network of science and industry, was able to draw on the experience of more than 3,000 researchers and developers from all disciplines and almost 400 enrolled technology companies at the Build campus. Prof. Dr. Günther Schuh, Director of the Machine Tool Laboratory (WZL) and Founder of e.GO Mobile AG, wanted to prove with a team of production researchers that even today, with an Industry 4.0 infrastructure, e-vehicles can be produced in an expensive and customer-oriented manner.

The e.GO Life is a compact 4-seater electric vehicle, which is particularly suitable as a second car or as a fleet vehicle. The electric car will first come on the market with a high-voltage electric motor with 60 kW and a 21.5 kWh battery.

From the end of 2019, the two variants will follow with correspondingly smaller batteries of 40 and 20 kW. As a result, gross selling prices for the basic versions including batteries will lie between € 15,900 ($17,808) for the Life 20 and €19,900 ($22,288) for the Life 60 without an environmental bonus.
