Fortum Charge & Drive completes the high-power charging corridor between Helsinki, Stockholm and Oslo

News

Sweden’s second high-power charging (HPC) station was opened today by Fortum Charge & Drive in partnership with McDonald’s.

The station is located at McDonald's in Västerås, approx. 100 kilometres west of Stockholm, and completes the high-power charging corridor that Fortum Charge & Drive has been building between Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki.

The corridor provides better charging possibilities for long-range EV models with the ability to charge at higher speeds. At the Västerås HPC station, the new generation EVs can charge about a 250-km range in only 10 minutes. This means that drivers of electric cars will be able to drive from Helsinki to Oslo in the same amount of time as with conventional cars.

“Fortum wants to make it easy for people to make sustainable choices. By enabling drivers of electric cars to charge in a fast and convenient manner wherever they are - at home, at work or on the road - electric driving becomes a relevant option for everyone,” said Annika Hoffner, Head of Public charging service and home charging at Fortum.
