SK telecom to develop control centre for self-driving vehicles
SK telecom along with Hyundai Motor Co. and Seoul National University to take part in a South Korean government initiative to develop a public transport system based on the lines of autonomous driving vehicles.

The project floated by South Korean Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure and Transport is worth KRW35.9 billion (US$33.2 million).
The stakeholders of the project would be working towards researching
the public transport system in the country by 2021.
SK telecom will develop a control centre for autonomous vehicles leveraging their 5G networks and HD mapping solutions.
As
a part of the project, each participant would create eight or more
autonomous vehicles either based on diesel or electricity. Tests will
begin on two vehicles next year.
