UBER now has 1 million users in Romania
Uber community in Romania reaches 1 million users since the first launch in Bucharest in February 2015
The Uber community in Romania has reached 1 million users since February 2015, when Uber first launched the service in Bucharest.
The millionth rider was Ioana, a 27 year old mom from Bacau, who lives in Bucharest. Her first trip with Uber was on May 17th and costed 10 lei. To celebrate the moment, Uber met with Ioana, offered her 100 trips with Uber and asked her how did she come to use Uber and why.
"I learned about Uber from my sister-in-law, who has been using it for some time, and who always recommended it to me, especially when I was coming home late at night. I used the first time Uber ta few days ago, when I went to an interview. I downloaded the app one day before and I used it the next day. I like the fact that I can see in the application when the car arrives, who the driver is and what car is it, but especially I like that Uber has introduced the cash payment. The drivers are polite and nice, and when I travel with my little girl they are helpful with the baby stroller" said Ioana.
Reaching 1 million users shows that, during these three years, Uber moved from being a niche service, used mainly by young people, to a service for everyone. They've become an important part of the mobility system in the large cities, together with public transportation and taxi. Uber operates in over 600 cities from 77 countries.
