NERVteh Introduces Pioneering Autonomous AI Driving Simulators

News

Company driven to improve driving safety -- now, and into the future with self-driving cars

Info

Showcased recently at the Techstars AutoMobili-D competition at this year's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), NERVteh introduced its advanced driving simulators and software capabilities to the North American marketplace.

The Ireland-based company, with headquarters in Trzin, Slovenia, specializes in simulation technologies that test drivers in critical response situations. This includes testing reaction times during emergencies and using that data to inform the artificial intelligence (AI) used for autonomous cars.

NERVteh's simulator features a fully-adjustable driving platform and greater than 180-degree curved screen viewing, with a patented motion platform that allows motion in X, Y and Z axes. This design allows enhanced vertical movement, which simulates real vehicle suspension and varying road surfaces. The driving simulation can feature customized terrain, weather and driving conditions along with edge case scenarios and driver distractions.

With distracted driving and the prospects of self-driving cars posing unknown risks on the road, NERVteh's advanced simulators provide safer, risk-free environments to gain valuable data and insights on how humans respond to dangers while driving.

"With our technology, we can learn more about how people react in critical situations while offering drivers proven training before getting behind the wheel of a vehicle," said Matej Vengust, NERVteh CEO.

"Moreover, our data can be used to help endow autonomous vehicles with the best capabilities of human drivers. Artificial intelligence is robotic. Autonomous vehicles act differently from human drivers and we have already seen the negative consequences from collisions and other incidents."

Other key executives on the NERVteh team include CTO Jaka Sodnik, who is also an Associate Professor with the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Faculty of Electrical Engineering; and Chief Data Scientist Bostjan Kaluza.

NERVteh's strategic partners in Europe include Triglav Group insurance-financial group; Slovenian auto supplier Akrapovic; and the University of Ljubljana's Faculties of Psychology and Electrical Engineering. NERVteh is currently establishing strategic partnerships with North American driver safety and research communities.

Applications and end-markets for NERVteh include autonomous vehicle manufacturers and suppliers; developers of ADAS, sensor and in-vehicle technologies; the insurance industry; driver training and licensing organizations; transportation authorities; and researchers in human machine learning and biometric performance analysis.
